Down $150000, Poker Brat Phil Hellmuth starts to crack as Negreanu, Sheiky, Greenstein, Deeb, and Brunson take him for a ride. Witness one of the most colorful post loss tyraids in television poker history. But the game must go on, as Jennifer Harman works magic by playing off her conservative image by betting with an 8 deuce.

This is a very common setup for TV sports announcing. When you watch any two man announcing team in Football or Basketball you’ll have one who has the job of simply describing what’s happening and one who has the job of explaining what the action means.

By way of example, Pat Summerall was the A.J. to John Madden’s Gabe when they both announced together for Fox’s NFL Sunday back in the 90’s.

  • 29 December 20118:26 am Cornan1980

Like the two others who’ve responded: Once you’ve bet your money it’s in the pot and the pot total goes up regardless of if everyone after you folds and you win the pot. That’s why they say “Soandso won a pot of $x” rather than “Soandso just made a profit of $x on that hand”.

Game Kaplan is a good commentator, but he’s and rhythm of speech are boooooooooring. I got sort of used to it, though.

maybe their logic is that once u put ur money in the pot, the money does not belong to u anymore. so when they win the pot, the whole pot is considered as profit. thats the only way i can think of. or they just dont know wut they r talking about

That co host next to Caplin needs to go…He just states the obvious and isn’t very entertaining.

  • 29 December 20112:06 pm Mi0dr4g

I hate it when they over hype the winning profit. They actually only get what they bet for. For example if someone bets 50k and the other player calls, instead of winning 100k like the commentators say they did..they only win 50k of what they bet out for.
